Inspire Libraries Galleries Visit

West Bridgford Library, Mansfield Central Library, Beeston Library and Worksop Library have large gallery spaces and a changing programme of visual art exhibitions that will give your children the opportunity to see original works displayed professionally in a local public space.

Works could include work by local or national artists and works made in collaboration with groups in Nottinghamshire. Self-led visits with your children can include finding out about the exhibiting artists, the techniques used, how the work is mounted and displayed and what the young people think of the work.

Gallery exhibitions can introduce young people to the language around the formal elements of space, light, colour, line, mark-making texture, form, and composition or can be a great stimulus for mounting an exhibition in school. The visit will be a great starting point for discussing what is an artist, for thinking about how things are made and the role of a curator and audience to art works. We can also offer artist led gallery visits for your school groups at a charge.

Resources included:

There is always interpretation materials for each exhibition and with some exhibition additional resources will be available.
