School Clusters

Primary School Cluster- Ashfield

At Captivate, we’re proud to lead the Ashfield Primary School Cluster – a vibrant partnership of six schools working together to place creativity at the heart of education.

Our current cluster includes: Croft Primary School, Broomhill Junior School, Greenwood Primary and Nursery, Priestic Primary School, Hucknall National C of E, and Dalestorth Primary School.

Through this collaboration, we deliver rich, high-quality arts experiences that inspire pupils, support teachers, and strengthen school communities. From professional artist residencies to exciting performance opportunities, our mission is to make the arts accessible, enriching, and central to every child’s learning journey.

Together, we’re shaping a future where the arts are not an add-on, but a foundation for learning, expression, and lifelong growth.

What the cluster offers

  • The Big Sing & Dance
A joyful, large-scale event where pupils from across the cluster come together to sing, move, and perform – developed in collaboration with Inspire Music, Next Door Dance, and Captivate.

  • Arts Residential
A unique creative getaway where pupils explore a range of art forms, working alongside professional artists in an inspiring setting.

  • Teacher CPD & Collaboration
Opportunities for teachers to connect, share best practices, and engage in high-quality arts-focused professional development.

  • Inspiration Trips
Cultural visits for both students and staff to explore local and regional arts venues, building broader creative awareness.

  • Technology & Innovation
A pioneering partnership with Tom Dale Company, bringing Surge VR headsets into our schools – introducing children to cutting-edge digital performance art.

  • Artsmark & Arts Award
Nationally recognised pathways that celebrate a school's commitment to arts education and recognise individual pupils’ creative achievements.

Join the Cluster

We’re always looking to welcome new schools into the Captivate Primary Cluster. If your school is passionate about creativity, community, and the power of the arts in education, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re also excited to be exploring the development of a Mansfield Primary Cluster – bringing our successful model to even more schools in the region. If you're based in or around Mansfield and are interested in getting involved, please get in touch.

Arts Award

Captivate has a team of experienced Arts Award trainers.

In April 2023, we celebrated our newest Arts Award Discover achievers at Sutton Road Primary School in Nottinghamshire. 81 children at Sutton Road Primary achieved an Arts Award at Discover level from Trinity College London, an introductory award designed for ages 5 and above that recognises their engagement with the arts.

Our project was in collaboration with Inspire Nottinghamshire Libraries, who worked with internationally renowned Japanese dance artist Takeshi Matsumoto in October 2022 to co-create artwork with local Mansfield primary schools by using dance and drawing. We are delighted to have supported the project and provide guidance from our Arts Award Advisor.

  • "A massive thank you for the BIG SING - we so enjoyed it! We know how much hard work these things are to organise and can't thank you enough for the opportunity".

  • "Thank you everyone for making that day special for all of us".
