Miner2Major is a five-year Landscape Partnership project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Innovate Educate Ltd and Creative Learning Partnership have been commissioned to deliver the ‘Century of Change’ strand. Success for the project relies on community engagement and co-creation of solutions.
‘Century of Change’ is about inspiring children and staff in primary schools and their communities to engage, care for, learn about and celebrate their natural and cultural heritage. The vision is to create:
“A place for people to discover a new sense of pride in their nature, history, famous legends. Celebrating the past, transforming the present and securing the future of the real Sherwood Forest.”
This is an opportunity to reimagine Sherwood Forest as a rich learning resource as well as enhancing and promoting links between local primary schools, heritage groups, artists, cultural organisations and communities.
Our brief is to work with education, cultural and heritage partners to create high quality learning resources that explore the Forest’s history from 1850 to 1950 with specific reference to the impact of:
- Gardens
- Mills
- Mining
- Transport
- War
The project will run between September 2020 and September 2023
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Century of Change will be managed by Karen Merrifield, Innovate Educate Ltd, and Colin Jackson, Creative Learning Partnerships. Karen is a highly experienced heritage learning consultant and evaluator. Colin has worked as an arts adviser and cultural education consultant.
