Based in Worksop, Sandance are an IYA Learning Disability dance group who came together originally to play sports and had never danced. After a few sessions they decided to take it further and have become a fully-fledged dance company and in their third year have become an outstanding group.
In 2018 they were selected to perform at Episodes dance platform hosted by Dance 4, one of only 12 groups from Nottinghamshire and Nottingham City and the only learning disability group selected. Dance4 were so impressed by Sandance that they nominated them to represent the East Midlands U Dance at the National Platform. Sadly, they were not successful on this occasion but they have the quality to continue to develop at the highest level.
The group are led by Sali Gresham, a professional dance artist and have performed at this year’s Urban Explorer’s event at Nottingham Playhouse.
I am constantly amazed with the group’s commitment and skill level in producing some beautiful performance pieces
